ABC Reveals 'Grey's Anatomy' Midseason Premiere Date

It's fall finale season, and that means that viewers have to say a brief goodbye as their favorite shows take a hiatus. Thankfully for fans of ABC's TGIT lineup, they won't have to wait too long to be reunited with their beloved nighttime soaps.

The alphabet network announced on Thursday that its three-hour programming block of "Grey's Anatomy," "Scandal," and "How to Get Away With Murder" will be returning to the small screen on January 18, 2018. All three series will air their midseason finales tonight.

In the case of "Grey's" in particular, even a short, two-month wait for new episodes may be too much to bear. The show's cast and crew have already been teasing that the fall finale will feature a "mind-blowing" cliffhanger that will have big consequences down the road for the staff of Grey Sloan Memorial. The episode revolves around a hacking of the hospital's computers, leaving the doctors scrambling as they attempt to treat their patients.

The episode, titled "Out of Nowhere," is directed by the show's own Kevin McKidd (Owen), and will also tackle a love triangle subplot featuring Owen, Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), and Carina (Stefania Spampinato). It airs tonight on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
