Seth Meyers to Host the 2018 Golden Globes

Late Night with Seth Meyers - Season 5NBC is keeping things in the family for its upcoming broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards, tapping "Late Night" host Seth Meyers for the emcee gig.

Meyers had been the rumored favorite for the job for a while now, and on Monday, the network made things official. In a press release, NBC cited the comedian's signature blend of political and cultural commentary as the perfect prerequisite for the position.

"We are thrilled that Seth Meyers is going to be hosting the Golden Globes this year," said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, in a statement. "As he does every night for us in late night, he will be taking a closer look at this year's best movies and television with his unique brand of wit, intelligence and mischievous humor."

Meyers will have some big shoes to fill, especially when it comes to his fellow "Saturday Night Live" alums-turned-Globes hosts, after Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's now-legendary run as emcees. But Meyers is no stranger to live TV or hosting duties (he emceed the Emmys back in 2014), and we're excited to see what the comedian brings to the raucous awards show broadcast.

The Golden Globe Awards are set for Sunday, January 7 on NBC.
