'Fantastic Beasts' Fans (Half) Joke 'It's Not Too Late' to Replace Johnny Depp

Get Christopher Plummer on the phone, stat!

To many fans, the biggest crime of "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" is that Johnny Depp is playing Gellert Grindelwald. Some fans are upset because of the abuse allegations against him, from his ex-wife Amber Heard. Others just don't find him appealing, especially compared to Colin Farrell in the first movie, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Depp is still a very popular actor, with many defenders, but his star has faded a bit in the past few years, and not just due to his personal headlines.

Pottermore just revealed the new film's title to be "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald," confirming a big focus on Grindelwald. The first cast photo was revealed at the same time, leading many to crop out Depp or just single out his involvement in the franchise:

Christopher Plummer's name also came up, in the continuation of an ongoing meme about Plummer replacing actors in their already-shot films. Plummer is currently reshooting Kevin Spacey's scenes for "All the Money in the World," and "Fantastic Beasts" fans joked that Plummer should just reshoot Depp's scenes next:

"The Crimes of Grindelwald" is scheduled for release November 16th, 2018.
