Fox's 'American Idol' Replacement Series Lands Fergie as Host

ENTERTAINMENT-US-PAGEANT-MISSUNIVERSEFox's new reality singing competition series has gotten Fergalicious.

With "The Four: Battle for Stardom" set to begin on Jan. 4, the show has locked Fergie down as its host. She'll appear throughout the series' six-episode run, bringing both star power and musical experience to the role. The solo artist and Black-Eyed Peas member appears extremely excited about her new gig. She shared a video with fans on Twitter, telling them to "say hello to [their] host."

The show will fill a void left by "American Idol," which ended its run on Fox in April 2016. The network was reportedly developing the series as early as July; news of the project began to surface not long after ABC made its move to reboot "Idol." Since then, "The Four" has been billed as an innovative series, including by its new host.

"This is a unique and modern show format that I believe will set the standard for the next generation of singing competition series on TV," Fergie said, according to Deadline. "I am looking forward to being by the contestants' sides during what could be the most important performances of their lives."

No "Idol" knockoffs here, it seems.

"The Four" premieres Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
