Jude Law in the MCU Makes 'Sherlock Holmes' Fans Happier Than Anyone

2017 Winter TCA Tour - Day 10A big development in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made fans of entirely different series happy.

With Jude Law reportedly nabbing a leading role in "Captain Marvel," fans of multiple "Sherlock Holmes" series are thrilled to see another Watson joining his Holmes. The MCU already boasts "Sherlock" stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, who play Dr. Stephen Strange and Everett K. Ross, respectively. With Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, all that was needed to complete the second set was Law.

Fans were quick to celebrate the fact that two Holmes-Watson pairings have reportedly signed on, tweeting about their excitement, the reunion possibilities, and more.

"Sherlock Holmes" fans perhaps led the Twitter charge, but they were not alone in their happiness. Other people were equally enthused about the addition of Law, irrespective of his having played Watson in the past.

Law's MCU debut will reportedly come as Dr. Walter Lawson, also known as Mar-Vell, a mentor to Carol Danvers (Brie Larson).

"Captain Marvel" is due out March 8, 2019.
