'Nashville' Season 6 Gets Premiere Date on CMT

CMT has finally set an official premiere date for country music drama "Nashville," with the show set to return to airwaves early next year.

The show made the announcement on Twitter this week, with stars Hayden Panettiere and Jonathan Jackson (a.k.a. Juliette and Avery) revealing in a video message that the series will return for season six on Thursday, January 4.

Season six will be slightly shorter than past seasons of the show, clocking in at 16 episodes. But "Nashville" is making up for that smaller order by packing the new installments with a bunch of new faces, with the announcement of five new characters joining the mix this time around.

According to TVLine, one of the big plot points for this new batch of episodes will revolve around the future of Highway 65, Rayna's record label that was thrown into disarray after her untimely death (and star Connie Britton's departure) back in season five. And it appears that Juliette will be having yet another personal crisis, encountering a self-help guru (played by "The Affair" star Josh Stamberg) who may have some nefarious plans for the songstress.

We can't wait to see how everything plays out in January.
