'American Crime Story' Changes Series Schedule: Good News for 'Versace'

Fashion Designer Donatella Versace deliv...FX announced a change in plans when it comes to Ryan Murphy's "American Crime Story" installments.

After the success of the first season, "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story," the second season was supposed to be "Katrina," following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and then "The Assassination of Gianni Versace." But FX just reversed the order, announcing the plan to air "Versace" first in early 2018, and bumping "Katrina," which will now only start filming in early 2018. (As far as we know, Season 4 will still cover the Monica Lewinsky-Bill Clinton sex scandal.)

This is the second delay for "Katrina." In January, FX CEO John Landgraf announced that "Katrina" had moved to 2018, although the plan at the time was still for "Versace" to air around six months after "Katrina." Now, as Deadline reports, "It is unclear whether all big-name actors who had been locked for Katrina, including Annette Bening, Dennis Quaid and Matthew Broderick, will still be available to do the series on the new timetable. Talks with them are underway."

On the flip side, "Versace" has been on a fast-track ever since the first script impressed everyone. Production on what is now "American Crime Story" Season 2 started April in Miami and Los Angeles, with Edgar Ramirez playing Versace, Darren Criss as serial killer Andrew Cunanan, Penelope Cruz as Versace's sister Donatella, and Ricky Martin as Versace's long-term boyfriend, Antonio D'Amico.

Entertainment Weekly debuted a photo of Cruz's Donatella Versace as the first official photo from that series:
