'Stranger Things' Season 2 Does Something 'Very, Very Disturbing' Early On

A character who really can't afford to have worse things happen to them has worse things happen to them toward the start of "Stranger Things" Season 2. When it rains, it pours!

The cast of "Stranger Things" recently talked to TVLine, teasing what we'll see when the second season premieres Halloween on Netflix.

Season 1 ended with Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) saved from the Upside-Down, but we saw that he still had something inside him. Well, poor Will will continue to not catch a break this year. Finn Wolfhard (Mike) told TVline that "scarier stuff happens" in Season 2, and "Something happens to Will in the first couple of episodes that's very, very disturbing."

There's a new monster in town in Season 2, and "Stranger Things" co-creator Ross Duffer said we'll see more of it. "Last season, a lot of the horror and a lot of what was happening with Will was off screen in the Upside down. That's not the case [in Season 2]. The horror is more up-close and personal."

Director/producer Shawn Levy recently told Gold Derby that Will would be "very much at the center of several intersecting challenges and threats in Season 2, and I think overall the kind of forces of evil that are inherent in Season 2 make that Demogorgon look quaint in retrospect."

Here's another interesting tidbit from TVline, about a different kind of monster: Billy (played by Dacre Montgomery), the older brother of new tomboy Max (Sadie Sink). "He's a bit of a bully who gives Steve a run for his money," Wolfhard said. "[He's] a little weird [and] disturbing, but people will love it." Weird and disturbing plays very well on this show. Maybe we'll love to hate him?

"Stranger Things" Season 2 has nine episodes, and they will all be ready for streaming on October 31. Apparently the season will end on a big cliffhanger, leaving fans anxious for Season 3.
