Mila Kunis Takes Charge in New 'Jupiter Ascending' Trailer

Mila Kunis in Jupiter Ascending

This trailer for Andy and Lana Wachowski's "Jupiter Ascending" has accomplished the unthinkable, and that's to make us look forward to next February. Sean Bean's character Stinger - who is part bee, thank you - gives Jupiter (Mila Kunis) the scoop on the intergalactic mishegoss she's been dragged into as the unwitting heir to an alien dynasty. Channing Tatum, who plays a half-albino wolf/human hybrid named Caine Wise, neatly lays out who the House of Abrasax is, what their deal is, and why one in particular wants her dead.

Eddie Redmayne, who's been winning over critics with his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything," is chewing tons of scenery as Balem, the most overtly evil of the Abrasax heirs. We also get a look at pretty, pretty Titus Abrasax, played by Douglas Booth, and Kalique Abrasax, played by Tuppence Middleton.

It looks rad as heck - the costumes alone will be worth the price of admission - and it seems like it will have some funny moments too, like when Caine says, "Your Majesty, I have more in common with a dog than I have with you." She replies, "I love dogs. I've always loved dogs." Yup, here's some fan fiction just waiting to be written. Did we mention Tatum's awesome pointy ears?

February is usually the darkest part of winter, when it seems like the spring will never come and we'll never get a reprieve from the terrible movies dumped in that post-Oscar lull. Although "Jupiter Ascending" got bumped to February 2015 only weeks before its July release, we're holding out hope that the movie will offer a dazzling, delicious escape hatch just when we need it most.
