Adam McKay: The 5 Scenes That Make Me Laugh Hardest (EXCLUSIVE)

adam mckay movie moments laugh hard

Adam McKay -- director and co-writer of "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" -- is Moviefone's Guest Editor from December 16 - 20. Watch for exclusive features from him throughout the week. Below, McKay reveals the five movie moments that make him laugh hardest.

WARNING: Some of the clips below are NSFW.

"Office Space" - Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston) and co-workers smash the fax machine

I've seen this scene at least 20 times, and it makes me laugh every time. Not to mention the fact that it turned me onto The Ghetto Boys. Dave Herman as Michael Bolton is one of my favorite performances ever.

"Airplane" - The spinning newspapers

I don't know if this can be described as a "scene," but when the spinning newspapers showing headlines about the danger the plane is in switches to the headline "Boy trapped in refrigerator eats own foot" it may be the single hardest laugh I've ever had.

"Bruno" - Bruno (Sacha Baron Cohen) around the campfire with the redneck hunters

At one point, Bruno is looking at the stars and he says "there really are a lot of stars in the sky... makes you think about all the hot guys in the world." The minute long awkward silence afterwards is one of the funniest moments ever.

"Wedding Crashers" - Jeremy (Vince Vaughn) and Gloria (Isla Fisher) at the dinner table

When Vince Vaughn is on his game, he's as funny as anyone and Isla Fisher has always been one of my favorites. I saw this scene in a packed theater at the Arclight in Hollywood, and that scene got some of the hardest laughs I can remember at a film.

"American Movie" - The director tries to get his elderly uncle to say his line without going "umm"

This is one of my favorite documentaries of all time. The filmmaker of the low, low-budget horror film in the doc tries over and over again to get his elderly uncle to say one single line without putting an "umm" in the middle of it. It's glorious.

Adam McKay's "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" opens nationwide December 18.
