Move over, box office king Robert Downey Jr. -- The Rock is taking over.
Forbes reports that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is 2013's top-grossing movie star -- in terms of money his movies made, not his salary -- thanks to the smash success of his debut in the sixth installment of the "Fast & Furious" series. Additional roles in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," "Pain and Gain," and "Riddick" pushed Johnson over the top, racking up a collective total of $1.3 billion, just edging out RDJ's $1.2 billion haul for "Iron Man 3."
The highest-grossing actress on Forbes's list was Sandra Bullock at number five. America's sweetheart earned her place thanks to the success of "Gravity," along with buddy cop comedy "The Heat," raking in a total of $862 million.
Rounding out the top ten were, in order: Steve Carell ($964 million), Vin Diesel ($887 million), the late Paul Walker ($789 million from "Fast & Furious 6," the biggest hit of his career), Billy Crystal and John Goodman (tied with $743 million, thanks to "Monsters University"), Chris Hemsworth ($701 million), and Jennifer Lawrence ($700 million and counting; expect her total to rise due to the continued success of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and the hotly-anticipated, yet-to-be-released "American Hustle").
