Maybe you haven't heard, but comic book heroes are all the rage right now. Unsatisfied with their domination of the film industry, DC Comics and Marvel have turned to television in the hopes of making every man, woman, and child a consumer of superhero-centric media. Fox has "Gotham," ABC has "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," the CW has "Arrow," and it seems CBS was feeling a little left out. Enter "Supergirl."
CBS is hooking up with Warner Bros. and DC for "Supergirl," with Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler writing the pilot. (They'll also exec produce, along with Sarah Schechter.) Kara Zor-El has grown up on Earth as a regular old human, but it seems turning 24 was just the last straw. That's when Kara "decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be," according to EW. She didn't even make it to her quarter-century breakdown yet! Sheesh.
We are pretty sure that CBS's take on "Supergirl" will have little to do with the 1984 film starring Helen Slater, Faye Dunaway, and Peter O'Toole, but stranger things have happened.
