'Sons of Anarchy' Season Premiere Is Most-Watched Episode in FX History

Sons of Anarchy, Charlie Hunnam, Marilyn Manson

It's too bad for FX that motorcycle drama "Sons of Anarchy" is signing off after this season: Its season premiere just set a record as the most-watched episode in the network's history.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that the September 9 debut of the show's seventh and final season has pulled in a whopping 9.25 million viewers, with live-plus-three day viewing factored in. And with encore presentations also added to the calculations, as well as views on the FXNow streaming app, the episode has already notched 10.6 million views in less than a week.

And the jaw-dropping numbers don't stop there. THR writes that compared to the "Sons" series premiere back in 2008, which scored 2.82 million viewers, the audience for last week's episode had increased by 228 percent. Yes, you read that correctly: 228 percent. Yowza.

We're doubting that Kurt Sutter and co. can be convinced to keep "Sons" around for an extra season in light of these stellar numbers, but FX may still want to try. In the meantime, catch Charlie Hunnam and the rest of the "Sons" gang while you still can on Tuesdays on FX.
