Orlando Bloom May Set Sail for 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'

Could Orlando Bloom be returning to the high seas? That's the word from the actor, who revealed in a recent interview that he's open to the possibility of starring in the next installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.

Bloom told the Press Association that he's been in touch with the filmmakers behind "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" (currently subtitled "Dead Men Tell No Tales"), and is leaning toward making a return to the franchise, which he left after the third film, 2007's "At World's End."

"There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it," Bloom said. "That whole experience working with Johnny (Depp) and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me."

And the actor cited Depp in particular with leading him to consider reprising his role as Will Turner, noting that working with the quirky thespian was a dream come true for him when they shot the first film, 2003's "The Curse of the Black Pearl."

"I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved," Bloom told the Press Association. "I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift."

Bloom will have some time to think over his decision, since the flick hasn't set a production schedule yet. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is currently slated for release on July 7, 2017.
