MoviePass Just Dropped Its Price Again

MoviePass just dropped its already low monthly fee of $10, which means a monthly subscription costs less than the average price for one movie ticket.

Although the site promises you'll pay $6.95 per month, according to The Wrap, by the time you add in fees, it works out to $7.50 a month. Which is still a fantastic deal. The current average price for a movie ticket, according to National Association of Theater Owners, is $8.93 nationwide.

The annual fee for MoviePass is $89.95. After your first year is up, the site says, "your plan will convert back into your $9.95 a month." Conditions apply, of course. MoviePass promises: "Offer valid until it's not." Also, "Limit two per household."

"This limited time offer is great for movie-lovers. At $6.95 per month, it's hard to compare it to anything else that provides as much entertainment for a full year," Mitch Lowe, CEO of MoviePass, said in a statement. "We are entering the prime movie going season, so now is the perfect time to take advantage of the MoviePass movement."

Existing MoviePass customers will save 25 percent from their current $9.95 per month plan if they subscribe to the new plan.

Exhibitors aren't happy about the low, low MoviePass pricing, but many seem to think the low prices -- and maybe even the company itself -- won't last, according to The Wrap.
