Is hope still alive for "Alien 5"? According to original star Sigourney Weaver, yes.
Weaver, who appeared at a Q&A at the Hero Complex Film Festival in Hollywood this weekend, said that there was potential for the long-gestating fifth installment in the venerable sci-fi franchise to eventually come to fruition, though no concrete plans for such a film are currently in place.
"I feel a longing from fans for the story to be finished," she told the crowd. "I could imagine a situation where we finish telling the story."
Though Weaver didn't offer up any concrete details about what that story would entail, she joked that it could involve the titular alien "popping out of a haystack," perhaps somewhere in the "French countryside." As for where her character, Ripley, would fit in, Weaver said that the fearless woman would keep her integrity intact.
"Had we done a fifth one, I don't doubt that her humanity would have prevailed," the actress said. " ... "I do feel like there is more story to tell."
