After seven seasons on American airwaves, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is pulling the plug on his restaurant makeover series, "Kitchen Nightmares."
Ramsay made the announcement Monday on his official website, where he noted that the series -- which began back in the UK in 2004 on Channel 4 before hopping across the pond to Fox in 2007 -- has hit numerous impressive milestones throughout its run.
"I've had a phenomenal 10 years making 123 episodes, 12 seasons, shot across 2 continents, watched by tens of millions of people and sold to over 150 countries," Ramsay wrote. "It's been a blast but it's time to call it a day."
The chef added that he'd met "some of the most weird and wonderful people" during "Nightmares"'s run, and thanked viewers for their support of the series. Ramsay wrote that he is "currently filming 4 new episodes, Costa Del Nightmares, for Channel 4 which will be [his] last."
Also included in Ramsay's announcement was a cheeky list of "Kitchen Nightmares" milestones, including that the series depicted 10,197 instances of swearing, racked up .4 gallons of tears, and caused Ramsay to consume 2.3 liters of Pepto Bismol. We're surprised all three of those totals aren't higher.
Despite "Nightmares"'s demise, Ramsay will continue to be a dominant television presence, with "Hell's Kitchen," "Master Chef," and "Master Chef Junior" all set for comebacks. His series "Hotel Hell" will return to Fox on July 21.
