Martin Sheen Joining Netflix Comedy Opposite Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin

For The Love Of Cinema - IWC Filmmakers Award

After a long stint on "The West Wing," Martin Sheen is returning to TV as the co-star in a new Netflix comedy opposite Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

Sheen will join the ensemble of "Grace and Frankie," a series focusing on the titular women, played by Fonda and Tomlin, respectively. The pair hate each other, but are unexpectedly united when their husbands fall in love with each other, and inform their wives that they plan to wed.

Sheen will play Robert, the husband of Tomlin's character. He most recently flexed his comedy chops with a guest-starring role on the FX comedy series "Anger Management," which is headlined by his son, Charlie Sheen.

"Grace and Frankie" has an impressive creative group behind it, including "Friends" co-creator Marta Kauffman, who wrote and co-created the series alongside Howard J. Morris ("According to Jim," "Home Improvement"). Fonda and Tomlin are co-producing, and Tate Taylor, who directed "The Help," is executive producing, in addition to helming the pilot episode.

The series is set for a 13-episode run sometime in 2015.
