Channing Tatum, Zac Efron, and More Join Bear Grylls In the 'Wild' For New Series

2013 NBCUniversal Summer Press Day

British survivalist Bear Grylls is returning to network TV with a new outdoor series -- and he's bringing some celebrity friends along for the ride.

Grylls will headline "Running Wild with Bear Grylls," a six-episode series for NBC, with each episode starring a different celeb who joins Grylls for a 48-hour adventure. The big names that will be joining Grylls include Channing Tatum, Zac Efron, and Ben Stiller, along with Tom Arnold, former NFL player Deion Sanders, and "Today" anchor Tamron Hall.

"Running Wild" will feature a host of different outdoor activities in a variety of locales, including skydiving in the Catskills, repelling down cliffs in Utah, and braving torrential winds and rains in Scotland. Grylls said in a statement that in addition to the adventure element, the show would also expose both viewers and his celebrity guests to different parts of the globe, and hopefully foster some education in the process.

"'Running Wild' allows viewers to see inside the hearts and minds of these guests in a very open, honest and vulnerable way, pushing them out of their comfort zones and seeing what they are like in real life when stripped of all the benefits of celebrity," Grylls's statement said.

"Bear's incredible spirit is absolutely contagious, not only with his celebrity partners but with the viewing audience as well, said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming at NBC. "We can't wait to see how these epic adventures will profoundly change those who take the challenge."

"Running Wild with Bear Grylls" debuts on NBC on July 28.
