The Final 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' Trailer Will Exceed Your Expectations (VIDEO)

Up until now, the marketing for Fox's upcoming "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," a sequel to the surprise 2011 hit "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," has been kept purposefully obscure (although this might be because the complex visual effects were taking too long to finish and not because of some deliberate intent). With the movie opening in a few weeks (July 11^th), Fox has decided to unleash a trailer that gives you a much better glimpse at what the "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" looks like.



The movie is set ten years after the first one and follows the efforts of a human survivor of the virus that has wiped out nearly all of humanity (played by "Zero Dark Thirty" breakout Jason Clarke) as he attempts to form a bond with the members of the ape society, led once again by Caesar (Andy Serkis). From there, things get complicated and then go to hell. Hey, it's not called "Planet of the Humans," right?



This new trailer is full of moody imagery, like the opening moments when giant steel doors open, revealing apes on horseback. "Apes do not want war," Caesar cries out. But unfortunately, it looks like that's what they're going to get, since there are militaristic villains on both side of the line, with Gary Oldman's character wanting an all-out mass extermination of the apes, and a few of the apes (it looks like being led by Toby Kebbell, although we're honestly not sure) also urging for the violent option.



While some of the trailer might give away a little too much (we would have loved to have seen the sequence where one of the apes "plays" with a machine gun until it violently murders two men), it does a great job of suggesting the scope and tone of the movie, and is still so quick that it leaves enough to the imagination.
