After a seemingly endless series of setbacks and roadblocks -- most noticeably the last-minute departure of leading man Charlie Hunnam -- the big-screen adaptation of E.L. James's best-selling erotic novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" has begun principal photography, even though the eventual movie will be released more than a year from now, over Valentine's Day weekend 2015.
Author James posted a photo from the movie's Vancouver set on Instagram yesterday. In the teaser image, captioned "Action!," you can see the name of director Sam Taylor-Johnson, alongside that of cinematographer Seamus McGarvey, which actually makes us wonder if this means McGarvey won't be back to photograph Joss Whedon's art-house movie "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (he shot the first film and is known mostly for his collaborations with director Joe Wright).
The "Fifty Shades" movie stars Jamie Dornan from "Once Upon a Time" as Christian Grey (filling in for Hunnam) and Dakota Johnson, a scene-stealer from "21 Jump Street" and "The Social Network," as his young paramour Anastasia Steele. Expect lots of whipping and bondage and whatnot.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" will be out February 13, 2015.
