You don't have to be a Comic-Con attendee to understand that the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it's known, is a highly intricate and inter-connected web that allows for characters to cross over into each other's films and seeds to be planted for future comic book-based installments. This was initiated as a way for the universe to feel more full and real, and to allow for something like "The Avengers," which was the culmination of an entire "phase" of films and separate franchises, to actual occur.
This strategy obviously worked since the Marvel movies have regularly come out on top as the most successful movies of the year, with the brand becoming one of those iconic watermarks, like Pixar, that suggests unparalleled quality in a landscape riddled with imitators. But nobody has thoroughly run through all the Easter eggs that pepper each film, pointing to the series' interconnectedness, comic book origins and, perhaps, direction of the franchises... Until now.
Thanks to MTV, we've now got a run down of the Easter eggs for every Marvel movie, not including this year's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" (opening this weekend) or the TV series "Agents of SHIELD." It's a 13-minute-long nerd marathon, but thanks to some lively narration and clips from movies you probably already love, it's pretty breezy. If you didn't run out and do the midnight for "Guardians of the Galaxy," too, it'll get you pretty pumped for the latest foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (emphasis on the universe part). Enjoy!
