Ridley Scott fans will be pleased to hear that scripts for the sequels to two of his most high-profile films, "Blade Runner" and "Prometheus," are finished -- but they may have to wait a while before they see the finished products.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scott revealed that he'd finished writing those follow-ups, but admitted that with all the projects he currently has on his plate (including the upcoming Christain Bale-starring biblical epic "Exodus: Gods and Monsters"), he's not sure when he'll get around the making them. "Blade Runner 2" is the priority project right now, Scott said, and he's co-written the script with Hampton Fancher (who also co-wrote the 1982 original) and Michael Green ("Green Lantern").
EW writes:
"It's written and it's damn good," Scott says of the Blade Runner sequel. "Of course it involves Harrison, who is a survivor after all these years-despite the accident," he says with a laugh (referring, no doubt, to Ford's Star Wars injury). "So yes, that will happen." (Ford's camp has not yet responded on Ford's commitment to the project.)
Scott said that the timeline for starting "Blade Runner 2" will probably begin after he finishes shooting his next film, "The Martian," a sci-fi flick starring Matt Damon that's due out in November 2015. Then, of course, there's the issue of when to shoot "Prometheus 2," too. Scott feels his fans' pain.
"That's the problem," the director told EW. "I've got a lot of ducks in a row. But they're all written."
