After months of speculation following allegations of sexual abuse, Fox has officially signed on director Bryan Singer to return for "X-Men: Apocalypse."
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Singer just inked a deal with the studio to helm the follow-up to this spring's hit "X-Men: Days of Future Past," after a man who claimed that Singer sexually abused him dropped those charges last month. It was unclear if Fox would re-sign the director in the wake of that scandal, but now that there are no more legal challenges facing him, Singer is free to re-join the mutant universe.
THR writes:
In June, 20th Century Fox production president Emma Watts told The Hollywood Reporter that she wanted Singer back for the sequel, despite the scandal: "Nothing would make me happier than if it all worked out. It's always been the intention for him to do it."
It seems that the studio got its wish.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to hit theaters on May 18, 2016.
