'American Horror Story: Freak Show' Is the Best Season Yet, Says Jessica Lange

American Horror Story, Freak Show, AHSFans of "American Horror Story" are already plenty excited about the latest installment of the anthology series, "Freak Show." Well, get ready to get even more pumped, people, because star Jessica Lange says season four of the FX drama will be better than anything the show has done before.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lange spilled some juicy details about her character, Elsa Mars, the proprietor of the titular freak show and former cabaret singer from Germany. The actress also revealed that she was the one who came up with the concept and presented it to "AHS" creator Ryan Murphy, adding that she felt a special connection to the subject matter because sideshow attractions had always fascinated her.

Lange also raved about the "Freak Show" cast, and Kathy Bates's bearded lady character in particular, telling EW, "We've got some amazing characters I think this year. The actors, of course, are all great."

The actress also had wonderful things to say about the detailed sets -- "It was like you are inside this poem. Incredible. I've never seen a set like that." -- and Murphy's "brilliant" plan for how to wrap up Elsa's arc on the show. As for Lange herself, who will be leaving the "AHS" world after this season ends, the actress said that Murphy and co. had truly saved the best for last.

"I think this year, without a doubt, will be my favorite," she told EW. "In a way, it was an idea that I had wanted to explore for a while. I think just the richness of it and the time and the place and the characters. I just think it's going to be unique. And I think, to my mind, what I've seen already and what we've done, it will far surpass anything we've done before."
