'Police Academy' Cast: Where Are They Now? (PHOTOS)

Police Academy Cast Then Now

How beloved was "Police Academy"? The cop comedy, which opened 30 years ago this month (March 23, 1984), didn't just make stars out of Steve Guttenberg and Michael Winslow and launch a franchise that lasted through seven movies and two TV series. It also became such a pop cultural touchstone that it earned a mention in a 1995 "Simpsons" episode, where Homer, angry at Bart for stealing, bellows, "We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to see all those 'Police Academy' movies? For fun? Well I didn't hear anybody laughing. Did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects." At which point Homer gets lost doing a Winslow impression....

Where was I? Oh yeah, how beloved was "Police Academy"? So much so that, even though there's been no new product since the 1997 live-action series, there have been reports for a decade that an eighth movie is in the works that would reunite all the surviving cast members. Which probably wouldn't make much difference at this point to The Gutt or Winslow or Kim Cattrall, but which might be a big break for some of their castmates who've fallen into obscurity.

While the former cadets and instructors await that phone call, here's a blotter on what's become of the cast members of the original "Police Academy" movie.
