Meryl Streep's Next Movie Has Oscar Written All Over It

A trio of Oscar winners are teaming up for a new project that just may land them all back in awards contention.

Meryl Streep, Jonathan Demme, and Diablo Cody are all reportedly attached to a movie being dubbed a "prestige package" that is currently making the rounds in search of a studio and production backing. Streep would star, Demme would direct, and Cody would write the screenplay.

TheWrap reports, "Streep would play a woman who abandoned her family when she was younger to find fame and fortune in California. Decades later, she returns home to be a mother again." It's unclear if the as-yet-untitled project is a drama or a comedy, though judging by Cody's involvement, it would likely contain elements of both genres.

Streep has just come off her record 18th Academy Award nomination for last year's "August: Osage County," and currently has three little gold guys under her belt. Cody won her Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for 2007's "Juno," while Demme cleaned up at the 1992 Oscars with "The Silence of the Lambs." Demme and Streep previously worked together on 2004's remake of "The Manchurian Candidate."

Considering that track record and the level of talent the flick has already attracted, it shouldn't be searching for a studio for too long.
