It may have been banned in the Middle East, but Southeast Asia loves Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic "Noah," where the film has already taken in over $1 million in one day of release in South Korea.

"Noah" earned $1.1 million on Wednesday in Korea, which makes it the country's biggest opening day earner of 2014. And those numbers bode well for "Noah"'s future international box office success, since 2013 blockbuster "Gravity" earned a similar take on its first day of release in South Korea, and went on make more than $400 million worldwide throughout its run.

That's good news for filmmakers, since "Noah" was fairly pricey to produce, racking up a $125 million budget. It's currently projected to earn about $40 million when it makes its United States debut next week.

"Noah" stars Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Connelly, and Emma Watson. It opens nationwide March 28.
