Moviefone's Top DVD of the Week

"The Great Beauty" (Criterion)

What's It About? A blast from the past sends man-about-town Jep Gambardella (Toni Servillo) reeling and reminiscing about his life and loves in Rome. The 65-year-old writer (of a sort) has had quite a life so far, but has he grown to take the richness of life and Rome for granted?

Why We're IN: Even if you're not hip to Italian cinema and Sorrentino's influences, you'll still enjoy this Oscar-winning film.

Moviefone's Top Blu-ray of the Week

"The King of Comedy" (30th Anniversary Edition)

What's It About? Rupert Pupkin (Robert De Niro) is desperate to become famous. Once he meets talk show host Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis), he's sure his dreams of fame and fortune are coming true. All he has to do is convince Langford to have him on his show, and then Rupert will be the real king of comedy. The fabulous Sandra Bernhard plays Langford's stalker.

Why We're IN: Martin Scorsese's black-hearted comedy, a wonderfully creepy commentary on Hollywood, is finally on Blu-ray. Hooray!

New on DVD & Blu-ray

"Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher"

What's It About? Marvel anti-hero Punisher is forced by Nick Fury to help Black Widow stop a terrorist group that wants to use S.H.I.E.L.D.'s weapons for really bad stuff.

IN or OUT: Unless you're a Marvel maniac, this direct-to-DVD animated film is probably not your bag.

"Chinese Zodiac"

What's It About? Jackie Chan stars as your go-to guy when you want to hunt down lost treasure -- like, say, sculptures of the Chinese zodiac. There's some action, and there's sort of a message here about stolen art, but not much to write home about. Chan, who wrote and directed the film, has announced it's "his last major action feature."

IN or OUT: Out.

"Delivery Man"

What's It About? Vince Vaughn stars as a slacker named David Wozniak who finds out his sperm donations have resulted in 533 now-adults. Unfortunately for everyone involved, one of the 533 slapped him with a lawsuit to find out his identity. Cue David's identity crisis, plus some wacky hijinks with the Mob and stuff.

IN or OUT: Deliver us from this.

"Odd Thomas"

What's It About? Anton Yelchin stars in this thriller based on a Dean Koontz novel. Odd Thomas is a fry cook who sees dead people and, naturally, must intervene in the ultimate battle between good and evil. Willem Dafoe plays the local sheriff.

IN or OUT: Yelchin is good, but "Odd Thomas" isn't. From the director of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," "Van Helsing," and "The Mummy."

"Walking With Dinosaurs"

What's It About? Justin Long voices Patchi, "an underdog dinosaur," in this family-friendly film about these prehistoric beasts.

IN or OUT: Unless your kid is obsessed with dinos, you should just keep on walkin'.

"Welcome to the Jungle"

What's It About? If you've been searching for an action-comedy with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Seth from "The O.C.," and Louise Belcher from "Bob's Burgers" (Kristen Schaal), you're in luck! Chris (Adam Brody) and his colleagues find themselves up the creek without a paddle when their corporate retreat, led by a nutty former Marine (JCVD), takes a turn for the worse.

IN or OUT: Maybe worth a rental?

"The Wolf of Wall Street"

What's It About? If you're not familiar with Martin Scorsese's latest film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a scummy stockbroker with a pill problem and Jonah Hill as his toothy co-conspirator, well, what are you even doing?

IN or OUT: "Wall Street" isn't for the faint of heart. It's a hard R, with lots of sex, drugs, adult language, and all sorts of immoral shenanigans. It's also pretty great.

New on Blu-ray

"The Freshman" (Criterion)

What's It About? Harold Lloyd stars as a dorky college freshman named Speedy who's trying really hard to get in with the cool crowd. There's romance, football, and plenty of slapstick in this silent comedy classic from 1925.

IN or OUT: This Blu-ray comes with several restored comedy shorts starring Lloyd, a fabulous new score, a super swanky transfer, and plenty of extras that will please cinephiles.

"Persona" (Criterion)

What's It About? Liv Ullmann stars as an actress named Elizabet Vogler who, for no apparent reason, is struck mute. Bibi Andersson co-stars as the nurse who's tasked with Elizabet's care. As Elizabet grows more responsive to Alma, their relationship becomes fraught and... strange.

IN or OUT: Even if you already own "Persona," you'll want to pick up this Blu-ray/DVD set. Its features include plenty of interviews, newly translated subtitles, and the feature-length documentary "Liv & Ingmar."

"Wonderwall"

What's It About? This kooky flick is about a professor who becomes obsessed with his beautiful young neighbor Penny (Jane Birkin). What's a guy to do, except start drilling holes in their shared walls so he can peep at her and fantasize?

IN or OUT: Fans of '60s psychedelia might enjoy this, especially given the soundtrack by George Harrison, but your mileage may vary.
