If there's anything that Arnold Schwarzenegger loves more than running the state of California, smelly cigars, and Reddit, it's talking about the Terminator. During a press opportunity for his upcoming film "Sabotage," Schwarzenegger dished on the upcoming "Terminator" reboot.
There aren't a ton of official plots details available for "Terminator: Genesis," but Arnold was happy to divulge that there will be a younger version of the T-800 floating around the flick. Sure, the T-800 is an unstoppable robotic killing machine, but there are human bits on top of the steel skeleton powering the Terminator -- and that flesh goes the way of all flesh. "[T]he Terminator's flesh ages, just like any other human being's flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages," Schwarzenegger told MTV. "'Terminator' deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800, and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie," he said.
Arnie didn't pull any punches when it came to talking about that elephant in the room, aging. Not an easy task when you're sitting next to man-beast Joe Manganiello, for sure. Yes, "Terminator: Genesis" will have tons of action -- the "Terminator" star brought plenty of pain in "The Expendables 2," after all -- but it's not easy when things are getting creaky. He admitted that "sometimes it does get more difficult when you're 66 years old to do this kind of action, versus when you're in your thirties or in your forties."
We don't know yet who will be playing the younger T-800, but we do know that Jai Courtney is on board as Kyle Reese, with Jason Clarke co-starring as John Connor and Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor.
Shooting on "Genesis" begins soon, with a release slated for July 1, 2015. "Sabotage" opens Friday. Photo by Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images
