It seems appropriate that spy actioner "Mission: Impossible 5" started filming on the sly earlier this week. Director Christopher McQuarrie tweeted a photo of Jeremy Renner, Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames on the set of "M:I5" with the caption "The team is back," and his use of the hashtag #MI5diary leads us to believe this won't be the last BTS pic we'll see from McQuarrie. (Jeremy Renner posted an almost identical photo on his Facebook page, which is cool and all, but it's not quite as epic as Vin Diesel's video of dancing alone to Beyoncé.)
At one point, right around 2011's "Ghost Protocol," it seemed entirely possible that Renner could take over the franchise from Cruise. It looks like that's not the case at all, and frankly we're cool with that. Even though "Edge of Tomorrow" didn't do so hot at the box office, it proved that Cruise still has it. Hopefully, more folks will find "Edge of Tomorrow," which has since been renamed "Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow," once it hits DVD and Blu-ray this October.
In the meantime, we'll keep our eyes peeled for more "Impossible" shenanigans. It's currently slated for a Christmas 2015 release.
