Ron Burgundy Sings Praises of 'Dear Friend' Toronto Mayor Rob Ford (VIDEO)

Anchorman Ron Burgundy is getting into politics, and the first candidate to receive his endorsement is his "dear, dear, dear friend" Rob Ford, the embattled, alleged crack-smoking mayor of Toronto.

Burgundy (as played by Will Ferrell) appeared on "Conan" last night to talk up Ford, and performed a spirited rendition of Loverboy classic "Working for the Weekend," which he told Conan was Ford's campaign theme song. There was even a jazz flute breakdown.

"I hold him in the highest regard. He's the best," Burgundy told the host of Ford. " ... He's controversial because he's so damn honest."

It sort of makes perfect sense that Burgundy and Ford are friends, since both men share a love of alcohol and an affinity for awkwardly discussing their sex lives in public. Plus, Burgundy knows a thing or two about redemption, tips he can do doubt share with Ford, who's seeking reelection after scandalizing his city.

Burgundy will no doubt be popping up in more places over the next few weeks in anticipation of the release of "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues." Ford will most likely next be seen on the evening news after knocking over another city council member.
