A Second 'Day of the Dead' Remake Is Coming

day of the dead remake

George Romero's cult horror classic "Day of the Dead" is getting another reboot, and the project has already secured a director.

Mark Tonderai, best known for helming 2012 horror flick "The House at the End of the Street," will direct the new "Dead," based on Romero's original 1985 zombie film. The reboot, co-written by Tonderai and Lars Jacobson, will be set in the modern day, years after a zombie apocalypse has gutted the globe. According to Deadline, the film will center on "a group of scientists and survivors [who] attempt to find a cure, and instead open Pandora's box."

A "Day of the Dead" remake was also released in 2008, starring Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon. The Steve Miner-directed film never made it into theaters, and was instead released direct-to-DVD.

Deadline reports casting should commence on the project soon.
