Anjelica Houston Would Like to Pop Up on 'Downton Abbey'

Oscar-winning actress Anjelica Houston is no stranger to the English countryside, having spent part of her childhood on a sprawling estate. That's why, the actress explains, she'd make a perfect fit for a series set on a similarly-sprawling estate: "Downton Abbey."

In an interview with USA Today promoting her new memoir, "A Story Lately Told," which details her childhood across the pond, the actress said that that experience gives her unique insight into the "Downtown" world. Plus, she explained, she's a huge fan of the show.

"I was raised in Ireland and England so I could pop into a part," Houston told the paper. "Somebody like the Countess Markievicz (an Irish rebel), who they mentioned last season. Maybe I could make a guest appearance."

Houston wouldn't be the first acclaimed American actress to appear on the beloved PBS series. Fellow Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine guest starred on the show's third season as the American mother of one of the characters, and is due to reprise her role in season four. Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti will also appear during season four.

Here's hoping Houston can get her foot in the "Downton" door.
