Daniel Day-Lewis's Son Asserts Independence by Rapping About Being Daniel Day-Lewis's Son (VIDEO)

If you enjoy rap music that includes references to both smoking tons of weed AND Oscar-winning actors, have we got an artist for you: Gabe Day, a.k.a. the 18-year-old son of Daniel Day-Lewis.

Day, a college student and aspiring rapper, recently released a new video for a song called "Green Auras," which features enough marijuana to make Bob Marley jealous. In the track, Day attempts to distance himself from his famous father, rhyming lines like "I remain my own person" with "Is that blunt still burnin'?"

"Call me Gabe Day and not Gabe Day-Lewis, 'cuz if you're trying to call me out I'm about to Gabe Day lose it, bitch," Day raps/sings on the track. He later adds, "Judging someone for who their dad is just as bad as being racist," a giant Africa-shaped pendant swinging from his neck.

For someone who wants so badly to be considered on his own merits, he sure references Day-Lewis a lot, devoting several verses to the "Lincoln" actor. "Green Auras" seems to be a biography of Day's entire life, including details such as being bullied as a child, his recent bipolar diagnosis, his conviction not to get caught up in drugs again (other than weed, of course), and an apparent reference to Nickelodeon TV series "Hey Arnold!"

It's a lot to take in, and we encourage you to watch the whole video to see what other gems it holds. Vanity Fair points out that Tom Hanks, another Oscar-winning actor, also has a rapper son; maybe the younger Hanks (a.k.a. Chet Haze) can tour with Day?
