Judy Garland's Children to Reunite for 'Wizard of Oz' Oscars Tribute

JUDY GARLAND LIZA LORNA JOSEPH

The planned commemoration of the 75th anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz" during this year's Oscars telecast is getting a sentimental boost: The children of late "Oz" star Judy Garland will reunite to introduce the film.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Liza Minnelli, Lorna Luft, and Joey Luft will appear on the Academy Awards telecast to pay tribute to Garland's most iconic film. The details of their role in honoring "Oz" -- as well as overall details of the movie's tribute -- have yet to be finalized, and are being kept under wraps for now.

Minnelli, daughter of Garland and second husband (and legendary director) Vincente Minnelli, is a celebrated star in her own right, having picked up a Best Actress statuette for her role in 1972's "Cabaret." Health problems have largely kept her out of the public eye recently, THR reports, though she did attend last month's Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Lorna and Joey Luft are Garland's children with her third husband and manager, Sid Luft. Lorna is an actress and singer, while Joey has remained out of the spotlight for most of his life.

THR reports that the three siblings have not always been on the best terms, though their relationship has healed in recent years. The trio is "enthusiastic about this opportunity to celebrate their beloved mother in such a high-profile way," the trade writes.

Look for Liza, Lorna, and Joey during the Oscars telecast, set to air on ABC on March 2.
