Your 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Villain Could Be 'Girls' Star Adam Driver

Adam Driver may soon go from dealing with "Girls" troubles in Brooklyn to battling Jedi in a galaxy far, far away.

Variety reports that the in-demand actor is in final talks to play a Darth Vader-like main villain in J.J. Abrams's "Star Wars: Episode VII."

With shooting on the sequel to "Return of the Jedi" set to begin in April, fans can expect casting announcements to start rolling in. Original series stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford will be making appearances in "Episode VII," but there hasn't been confirmation of any other actors joining the film (though nearly every young actor in Hollywood has been floated in the rumor mill).

If Driver signs on, he would be the first major confirmed cast member.

As Variety notes, Driver has been Disney and LucasFilm's top choice for a while, but they had to work around the 30-year-old's tricky schedule for "Girls." Sources say that the issue has been resolved between Disney and HBO.

Driver has become a hot commodity since he broke through on "Girls." He had a memorable, albeit small role in the Coen brothers' "Inside Llewyn Davis," is currently filming the sci-fi movie "Midnight Special," and is attached to Martin Scorsese's next project, "Silence."
