The 'Point Break' Remake Finds Its Johnny Utah

The "Point Break" remake has its Johnny Utah. But you've probably never heard of him.

The fresh face who will be donning a wetsuit (if the new version calls for it, that is) and a badge is up-and-comer Luke Bracey.

Bracey appeared in 2013's "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" and 2011's "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"-esque "Monte Carlo." He's also Australian, and had a regular gig on long-running (it's been on since 1988!) Australian soap "Home and Away, the same show that gave budding actor Chris Hemsworth his start.

As Variety notes, Bracey joins Gerard Butler, who's already set to play surfing ne'er-do-well Bodhi. Ericson Core, who served as a cinematographer on movies like "The Fast and the Furious," "Payback," and "Daredevil," will direct.

We like this choice for Johnny for many reasons. His Australian-ness means he'll be good at surfing (they love surfing there, right?), he has a rough-around-the-edges look that contrasts Reeves's clean-cut visage nicely, and his last name is Bracey. It's just kind of fun to say.

"Point Break," the remake, is due out sometime in 2015.
