Most "Star Wars" fans would give anything for a shot at a part in one of the upcoming installments of the new trilogy, and that includes Mark Ruffalo. The Oscar-nominated actor recently revealed that he reached out to director Rian Johnson about scoring a role in "Episode VIII," and basically begged him for a shot.
In an interview with Collider, Ruffalo was discussing his relationship with Johnson after working with the director on the 2009 flick "The Brothers Bloom," and whether or not that might help him land a gig working on "Episode VIII." The actor said he "desperately" wanted to be part of the new trilogy, and admitted that he recently sent a message to Johnson to inquire about the possibility.
"My e-mail to Rian after all these years was, 'Rian, congratulations on everything you've been doing. And by the way, if there's a part in 'Star Wars,' please, anything, please consider considering me to join you,'" Ruffalo told Collider.
While Ruffalo said he wasn't necessarily interested in simply standing in the background of a scene wearing a mask, the actor relented a bit and said he'd be willing to do something involving CGI if it meant joining the "Star Wars" universe. And with his extensive motion capture work on the "Avengers" series, Ruffalo certainly has the effects cred to pull off such a character.
"I hope that I'm on the front line of this kind of new frontier of creativity and performance that is completely boundless," he told Collider of mo-cap work. "Definitely be interested in doing something like that for 'Star Wars.'"
