It's time for some more magic: Channing Tatum has officially started writing "Magic Mike 2," and he's using co-star Matthew McConaughey for inspiration.
Tatum tweeted out a comical image to his Twitter followers Sunday showing him staring intently at a bust of McConaughey, letting fans know that he had begun work on the sequel to his 2012 semi-autobiographical stripper drama.
What better way to start writing #MagicMike2 than with my old friend Dallas? #runatribe http://ift.tt/LNVwcl

And while newly-minted Oscar nominee McConaughey may be ascending the Hollywood ranks into more prestigious fare thanks to his poignant turn in "Dallas Buyers Club," Tatum made it clear that there was another Dallas waiting for him in the "Magic" follow-up: the role of strip club owner Dallas, who McConaughey portrayed in the first film.
Tatum offered no details on when he hoped to finish the script, though he said in the past that he's considering co-directing the feature with his producing partner Reid Carolin. As for what the screenplay will entail, there were no specifics, but the actor said last year that the sequel would be lighter in tone than the original.
"It will be a road-trip movie, and it will essentially be the movie that everyone thought the first one was going to be: crazy and fun and less slice-of-life and less drama," Tatum told The Hollywood Reporter in June. "The first one, we had to make not so cheesy and campy; this one we are going to swing for the fences."
