Of all the 2014 Oscars races, the Best Actress award had pretty much been decided since the end of 2013. Most pundits and film critics predicted that Cate Blanchett would win for her unsettling performance in "Blue Jasmine." The other nominees were Amy Adams for "American Hustle," Sandra Bullock for "Gravity," Meryl Streep for "August: Osage County," and Judi Dench for "Philomena."
And, as predicted, the Best Actress Oscar winner is Cate Blanchett.
All the Moviefone editors chose Blanchett to win, so it's not really a surprise. Let's all revel in this wonderful actress' victory.
Now that the Oscars are over, we can dream about next year's nominees. Or not. Your call.
