Hope Kim Dickens has some good running shoes.
The actress - best known for her work in "Gone Girl," "Treme," "Friday Night Lights," and "Deadwood" - has signed on to star as the female lead in AMC's spinoff of "The Walking Dead."
Deadline reports that Dickens won the role after a "lengthy casting process, with AMC testing a number of actresses for the role."
It was recently revealed that the spinoff (code name: "Cobalt") would be set in Los Angeles. Dickens and male lead Cliff Curtis play school colleagues who are in a relationship and team up to fight off the incoming zombies. Dickens' character has two teen kids from a previous marriage (Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam) and has been described as "the girl next door but with an edge to her."
"Cobalt" should begin filming early next year.
