"The Good Lie"
Although Reese Witherspoon's face is on all the posters, the real stars of "The Good Lie" are the actors who portray young survivors of the brutal civil war in Sudan. Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, and Emmanuel Jal star as the Sudanese "Lost Boys" who start a new life in Kansas City, Mo. Philippe Falardeau ("Monsieur Lazhar") directed the movie, based on a script by Margaret Nagle ("Boardwalk Empire").
"Pride"
Critics loved this crowd-pleasing film based on a true story about two disparate groups who come together in solidarity during Margaret Thatcher's term as PM. LGBT activists are trying to raise money to support the families of striking miners, but they're not having any success. Eventually, the group, which dubs themselves "Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners," finds a mining town in Wales that's at least sort of receptive to their support. Starring Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Ben Schnetzer ("The Book Thief"), George MacKay ("How I Live Now"), and Paddy Considine.
"The Trip to Italy"
This has been available digitally for a few weeks now, but if you desperately need a physical copy of this quirky road trip foodie flick, bon appetite. Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon reprise their roles as, well, themselves in this sequel to "The Trip."

"Labor Day"
Jason Reitman's adaptation of Joyce Maynard's novel is kinda silly, but man, those pies look delicious. Kate Winslet co-stars as an agoraphobic mom who falls for an escaped convict named Frank, played by Josh Brolin. It's worth noting that Frank is hiding from the police by holding Adele (Winslet) and her son (Gattlin Griffith) hostage, but let's not split hairs.

Get your peepers on David Fincher's adorable marriage romp starring Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck. Amy (Pike) and Nick (Affleck) seem like the perfect couple until Amy goes missing on their fifth anniversary. Then things get dark, as they often do in the world of author/screenwriter Gillian Flynn.
"The Boxtrolls" (iTunes)
Eggs (Isaac Hempstead Wright) is a little boy who was raised by the monsters that live underneath the city of Cheesebridge, in LAIKA's latest work of stop-motion magic. Baddie Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley) is determined to rid the city of the Boxtrolls, so it's up to Eggs to venture above ground in a bid to save his family.
"The Drop"
Tom Hardy stars as a Brooklynite named Bob who works at a local bar that serves as a drop for local criminals. When the bar is robbed by other criminals, well, it all goes to hell in a handbasket. However, Bob does have a cute puppy named Rocco and a burgeoning friendship with his neighbor Nadia (Noomi Rapace), so everything will probably be okay, right? With a script by Dennis Lehane and "Bullhead" director Michael R. Roskam in charge, that's highly unlikely. James Gandolfini and Matthias Schoenaerts co-star.
