"The Wolf of Wall Street" co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill are re-teaming for a new movie, which, like "Wolf," is also based on a true story.
DiCaprio and Hill will star in an adaptation of the 1997 Vanity Fair article "The Ballad of Richard Jewell," about the security guard who discovered a bomb at Atlanta's Olympic Park in 1996, then was falsely accused of planting the device himself. Hill is set to play Jewell, and DiCaprio will play the lawyer who helped Jewell navigate the instantaneous and traumatic upheaval that the FBI's accusation brought to his life.
Jewell was initially hailed as a hero for finding the bomb, but quickly became a suspect after media outlets reported that he fit the profile of a "lone bomber." Deadline writes, "Based on the flimsiest evidence and the FBI's zeal to corral a suspect, Jewell, a former sheriff's deputy who earlier that year moved in with his mother to care for her during a health crisis, and took a security job because he thought it would be strong resume material as he tried to become a cop, was suddenly depicted as a 34-year-old loser who lived with his mother."
Though eventually cleared in the matter, the incident took a huge toll on Jewell. He died in 2007 at the age of 44.
No director or release date has been announced yet. Hill is currently working on another film, "True Story," with James Franco. Both Hill and DiCaprio are up for Oscars for their work in "The Wolf of Wall Street."
