A 'Scooby-Doo' Reboot Is Coming, So Hide Your Scooby Snacks

scooby doo rebootTen years after the franchise left theaters, Warner Bros. wants to reboot "Scooby-Doo."

Deadline reports that the studio is "in the early stages" of revamping the series, which first hit theaters with a live-action adaptation in 2002. The hit kiddie flick, which starred Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini, also spawned a 2004 sequel, "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed."

Banking on a rehash of that success, WB is looking to relaunch the series with a totally new story. According to Deadline, Randall Green is the man tapped to shepherd the new version of "Scooby."

While "Scooby" may seem like a surprising choice for a reboot, it certainly fits the recent trend of kid-friendly franchises returning to the big and small screens. "The Addams Family" is due for a new animated movie, while TV series "The Powerpuff Girls," "Reading Rainbow," and "The Magic School Bus" are all planning returns, too.

No further details about the new "Doo" are available yet; stay tuned.
