'Frozen' Baby Names Are All the Rage in the UK

Taking a cue from American audiences who have been naming their newborns after "Game of Thrones" characters, UK residents have now started using monikers popularized by "Frozen."



Website BabyCenter.com reports that the hit animated musical has been inspiring more than just endless repetition of "Let It Go," with names like Elsa, Kristoff, and Hans seeing huge spikes in popularity since "Frozen"'s debut last November. The frequency of those three names' use rose 34 percent, 40 percent, and 40 percent, respectively, from 2013 to 2014, while even reindeer Sven saw the use of his name jump a whopping 41 percent in popularity.



As for poor Princess Anna, whose name only had a four percent increase in use, BabyCenter.com notes that that name was already pretty popular in the UK to begin with -- though Elsa totally got the flashier showcase song in the movie, and thus probably sticks out more viewers' minds as a result. (We're still big fans of "Do You Want to Build a Snowman," Anna!)



This is the first time Elsa has broken into BabyCenter.com's top 100 name rankings, though the site notes that not even the worldwide "Frozen" phenomenon can make Olaf happen -- his name sits at a dismal ranking of 459th. Guess he'll have to wait for "Frozen 2" to get his big baby naming break.
