John Boyega's Character and a Major 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Plot Point Leaked?

First of all, when dealing with anything "Star Wars" related, it's important to take the news with a grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt you can find, probably; one that has to be moved from place to place with the assistance of a large, flatbed truck. The other thing to consider is that, if these rumors are correct, then the use of a spoiler warning is indeed necessary. So, let's put that up there too: if you don't want anything maybe, possibly, potentially ruined for you about the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII," then, please, turn back now.

Badass Digest is reporting that John Boyega's character is... a stormtrooper. That's right: Boyega is going to be wearing a suit of white armor, at least at the beginning of the movie. Apparently he leaves the Empire and teams with Daisy Ridley's character to uncover a mystery spurred on the discovery of Luke Skywalker's lightsaber... And his severed hand.



Now, what makes this more interesting is the fact that, in the new movies (the so-called prequels), the stormtroopers appeared to be descendants of the clones that populated the Clone Wars. These clones were based on a single person, who happened to have a harsh Australian accent. In fact, when George Lucas went back and tinkered with the original trilogy, as he so often feels the need to do, he replaced the voices of the original actors who played stormtroopers. Instead of whatever accent they originally had (usually American or British), they suddenly all had gooey Australian accents. If this casting rumor is true then the stormtroopers and the Clone Wars warriors are two very different kinds of people. Which is super interesting, if unnecessarily nerdy.



Additionally, the Bad Ass Digest report suggests that the desert planet they have been replicating in England and Abu Dhabi isn't actually Tattooine, but a different planet altogether. The plot thickens, if this really is the plot...



"Star Wars: Episode VII," which also stars Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and the guy in the Chewbacca costume, Peter Mayhew, opens everywhere on December 18^th.
