There's an exciting charity opportunity coming in the form of the Star Wars: Force for Change, a UNICEF-affiliated movement that will allow for some lucky fans to come to the set of "Star Wars: Episode VII" and actually be an extra in the movie. While charity is cool and all, what's really been making waves are the videos that "Star Wars: Episode VII" director J.J. Abrams has been steadily releasing, giving us tantalizing tastes of the new space epic. And this newest one is a doozy.
In the video, Abrams is standing in front of some kind of structure. As he continues his speech (you can also win a chance to see the film early), the camera slowly zooms out, showing you the massive spaceship he's standing in front of: what appears to be a slightly re-designed version of the famous Rebel starship the X-Wing. That's right, y'all: this is going to be original recipe "Star Wars." And we love it a lot. (We also love that tiny little robot that shoots across the bottom of the frame; three rebel cheers for practical robots!)
"Star Wars: Episode VII," which stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Lupita Nyong'o, will open on December 18th, 2015. If you happen to be one of the lucky so-and-sos to win the walk-on role, please find us on Twitter and tell us everything you saw and heard. We won't tell a soul. Promise.
