It seems entirely appropriate that pop's "Sad Girl" has not one but two songs in the new Tim Burton movie, "Big Eyes."
Who else but Lana Del Rey could give voice to the thwarted career of Margaret Keane, the artist behind those paintings of sad, saucer-eyed children? As "Big Eyes" producer Larry Karaszewski put it, "The whole thing is about a woman who can't find her voice," which is definitely a motif for the swoony pop star. Plus, this could be Del Rey's second shot at an Oscar nomination after she was dissed for her contribution to the soundtrack for "The Great Gatsby."
In any case, Del Rey and Burton seem like a match in super-cool heaven. "Big Eyes," which stars Amy Adams, Christoph Waltz, Krysten Ritter, and Jason Schwartzman, opens on Christmas.
