Joseph Gordon-Levitt Wants to Cross the Twin Towers in 'The Walk' Trailer

The WalkTwelve people have walked on the moon; only one man walked between the Twin Towers ... on a wire.

That fact starts the official synopsis of "The Walk," a film from director Robert Zemeckis. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Philippe Petit, a French high-wire artist who infamously walked a tightrope between the Twin Towers in 1974.

The first trailer for the movie (via Entertainment Weekly) is dizzying and breathtaking, with Gordon-Levitt perched on a beam on the roof of one tower. Acrophobics, beware! The CGI looks to be stunning, but much of the emotion comes from the seeing the towers themselves. There's a wistful tone to the trailer - harkening back to a time when the idea of people sneaking into the Twin Towers to pull off an illegal heist is thrilling and not terrifying.

"The Walk" opens in theaters October 2015.
